Live prices from local suppliers in Batumi, on a board that is nearly half all-wheel drive.
Same as pickup
Batumi sits where a wet subtropical coast runs straight into the mountains. You can stand on the pebbles and watch cloud sitting on the ridge behind the city, and that geography shows up in the cars. This is not the row of small hatchbacks a beach town usually lists. Close to half of the first hundred listings are all-wheel drive or SUV shaped, and the badges that repeat are Subaru and Jeep.
The rest of the board behaves like a modern local market. All but one of those hundred cars is automatic, most of them freeze nothing on your card, and close to six in ten arrive with delivery included. There is no luxury tier to climb into either: the top of the range sits at roughly EUR 45 a day and no listing is flagged as new. What you are choosing between is clearance, seats and convenience.
Set your dates in the form at the top of this page and let the grid fill. Everything in it is live from suppliers working in Batumi, so a car that has gone stops appearing.
Sort by shape before badge. The split that matters here is all-wheel drive against front-wheel drive, and after that seat count, because around half the board sits on the all-wheel-drive side.
Hold the car you want. Roughly two thirds of listings freeze nothing at all on your card and around half can be cancelled for free, so booking early costs you very little.
Meet the car or have it brought to you. Close to six in ten listings include delivery, which means the handover happens at the airport or at your address instead of at a counter.
Suppliers in Georgia buy for the roads they rent on. Here is what that means for the car you end up with.
This is a wet subtropical coast rather than a dry one. Water on a steep surface is the ordinary condition, and grip at all four corners is worth more here than a badge on the boot lid.
The hills begin within sight of the beach. A road that leaves the shore starts gaining height almost at once, which is where a small front-wheel-drive hatchback begins to feel like the wrong tool.
Subaru and Jeep are the badges that repeat most after Toyota. Forester, Crosstrek and Renegade each appear several times inside the first hundred listings on the board.
All-wheel drive is not sold as a luxury tier in Batumi. The whole board runs between roughly EUR 27 and EUR 45 a day, and no listing on it carries a luxury marque.
“We took a Forester because of the forecast and used it every single day. Nothing was held on the card, which mattered more than I had expected it to.”
“The car was outside the hotel at the time we gave. The one thing I would change is that I collected in heavy rain and wanted five more minutes to look it over.”
“Automatic, delivered, no deposit. I had read that hiring a car in Georgia would be complicated and it simply was not.”
The spread is narrow, which is the useful thing to know before you start filtering. These are the four points the feed clustered around when we measured it.
| Point on the board | Day rate | What sits there |
|---|---|---|
| Floor | from about EUR 27 | The cheapest listings on the board on the day we measured it. |
| Lower quarter | around EUR 36 | One car in four is priced at or below this point. |
| Middle | around EUR 40 | The median listing. Half of the board is priced at or under this point. |
| Top | around EUR 45 | The ceiling. There is no premium tier above it, so nothing climbs further. |
The feed moves within the day, so read this as the shape of the market rather than a quote. The live grid higher up the page carries the price that counts.
The shore road is the easiest driving around Batumi and the reason most visitors take a car at all. South of the city it runs towards Gonio and Kvariati and the Turkish border. North it threads the beach towns towards Kobuleti. Any car on the board will do it comfortably, so this is the leg where the cheaper end of the range earns its place.
Mtirala National Park is the trip that explains the fleet. The surface gets wet, the gradient is real, and the cars that suppliers here keep in stock are built for exactly that. This is where the all-wheel-drive half of the board stops being a preference and starts being the sensible booking, especially if you are driving back after rain.
Most people collect on the day they land. With delivery included on close to six in ten listings, the practical choice is whether the car meets you at the airport or at the address you are staying at. Inside the city an automatic is the comfortable option, and that is almost the whole board anyway.
Around five hundred cars are listed for Batumi, and in the hundred we measured most held nothing on your card. The grid updates as suppliers release stock.
